BLACKPINK’s Global Impact
When we talk about K-pop taking over the world, it’s impossible not to mention BLACKPINK. The four-member group — Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa — has broken countless records, filled stadiums across the globe, and now continues to make history at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
This year was extra special: not only did BLACKPINK get nominated as a group again, but each member also earned solo nominations, proving just how powerful they are both together and individually.
Here’s a quick look at their nominations at the 2025 VMAs:
Rosé: 8 nominations for “APT.” with Bruno Mars and her solo track “Toxic till the end”
Lisa: Best K-Pop for “Born Again” with Doja Cat and RAYE
Jennie: Best K-Pop for “Like Jennie”
Jisoo: Best K-Pop for “Earthquake”
BLACKPINK (Group): Best Group of the Year

BLACKPINK Wins Best Group of the Year (Again!)
BLACKPINK brought home the Best Group of the Year award, competing against legendary acts like Backstreet Boys, Coldplay, Evanescence, Imagine Dragons, and Aespa.
This marks their second win in this category — the first was back in 2023. It’s a huge reminder that BLACKPINK isn’t just dominating K-pop, but standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the biggest global artists of all time.

Rosé Makes History with “APT.”
If there was one name that shined brightest this year, it was Rosé. She made history by winning Song of the Year for her hit “APT.” with Bruno Mars — making her the first K-pop artist ever to take home this award.
She beat out huge artists like Billie Eilish, Ed Sheeran, Lady Gaga, The Weeknd, and more. Truly iconic.
Rosé’s “APT.” has been a global phenomenon, charting on the Billboard Hot 100 as number 3 and dominating streaming platforms worldwide. On top of that, her solo track “Toxic till the end” was nominated for Best K-Pop, showing just how much range she has as an artist.

Oh, and did you noticed her special gift at the VMAs — a custom “Moonbubu” Labubu figure designed by Marko Monroe, styled like the MTV Moon Person trophy. It was both adorable and symbolic of her groundbreaking win.
Lisa Wins Best K-Pop (Again… and Again!)
Another massive highlight came from Lisa, who won Best K-Pop for her track “Born Again” with Doja Cat and RAYE.
This marks her third consecutive win at the VMAs:
2022: “LALISA”
2024: “Rockstar”
2025: “Born Again”
Lisa has officially become the first solo artist in history to achieve this milestone at the VMAs.
But that’s not all — Lisa also made history this year by becoming the first K-pop female soloist to perform at Coachella, delivering a jaw-dropping set that left fans and critics amazed. Her stage presence, style, and energy showed once again why she’s one of the most influential performers in the world.

Jisoo & Jennie: Still Queens of Nominations
Even though Jisoo (“Earthquake”) and Jennie (“Like Jennie”) didn’t take home awards this year, the fact that both were nominated alongside their group mates is a huge success on its own.
The Best K-Pop category was packed with talent — and to have all four members of BLACKPINK nominated either as a group or individually just shows how powerful they are in today’s music scene.
Jennie’s solo achievements cannot go unnoticed. She reached the Billboard Hot 100 with multiple tracks, proving her music resonates with fans worldwide:
On top of her Billboard success, Jennie also made history at Coachella 2025, becoming the first K-pop female soloist to perform at the festival. Her powerful stage presence and charisma lit up the stage, showing her true star power and making BLINKs proud.

Jisoo’s solo album “ME” and her EP “Amortage” both reached #1 on the Global iTunes charts, a major milestone that cements her place as a powerhouse soloist not to mention many other achievements as an actress.
Her nomination for “Earthquake” at the VMAs added to her incredible year, proving that she’s just as impactful as a solo artist as she is with BLACKPINK.

Why This Night Was So Special
This year’s MTV VMAs weren’t just about trophies. It was about BLACKPINK proving that they are unstoppable forces in music.
As a group, they won Best Group of the Year again.
Rosé made history with Song of the Year.
Lisa set a record for most consecutive Best K-Pop wins.
Jennie and Jisoo showed their solo power with nominations.
Even though not every member walked away with a trophy, the fact that each one was recognized makes this night a massive success for BLINKs everywhere.

Final Thoughts
It’s always exciting to see BLACKPINK making history, and the 2025 MTV VMAs will definitely go down as one of their most iconic nights yet.
Personally, I would’ve loved to see Jennie or Jisoo win a solo award this year — but with how talented these girls are, I’m sure their time will come very soon.
What matters most is that BLACKPINK as a group and as individuals are thriving. Their success is a win for K-pop and a win for BLINKs all over the world.
